While the state of New Jersey passed a law earlier this year that permits the used of mobile gambling devices, the Atlantic City casinos are hesitant to offer hand-held gambling until the law becomes clear as to whether Internet gambling will be banned or approved in the future. The Gaming Enforcement Division has recently issues temporary regulations regarding hand-held gambling devices.

UK-based gaming company, William Hill, has signed an agreement with the Plaza Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas to provide mobile sports betting and a betting kiosk. The agreement comes less than a month after William Hill received their Nevada Gaming license. The Plaza Hotel and Casino is operated by Play LV.
William Hill already operates the Lucky’s Race and Sports Book at the Plaza Hotel and the racing and sportsbook assets of the Sierra Development Company, since it acquired American Wagering Incorporated, Brandywine Bookmaking for approximately $53 million. UK-based land and online betting company, William Hill has released an interim financial report for the first half of 2012. The results, until the end of June, show a substantial increase in net revenue and profits.
Operating profits for the six months to June 26 increased 14 percent year-on-year to £167.8 million and net revenues for the same period increased 11 percent year-on-year to £627.8 million. A 30 percent year-on-year increase to £198.4 million was seen in online net revenues while the retail operations grew by 5 percent to £417.4 million. UK-based real-time data provider for mobile devices, WorldLink, has signed a deal with Sunderland to become their official sports betting and gaming partner. Sunderland will become one of three English Premier League clubs to sign an agreement with WorldLink.
The three year deal will require WorldLink to offer dedicated online and mobile solutions, together with their partner, BetButler. Club specific online and mobile betting portals will become available to the UK Ryman League’s semi-professional and amateur teams. UK-based betting exchange and casino operator, Betfair, has revealed its financial report for the twelve months ending in April. The company showed a net rise in revenues of six percent to £389.7 million.
Betfair indicated that mobile betting accounted for a significant proportion of the increase in revenue. A 15 percent rise in revenues to £92.1 million was seen before tax, interest, depreciation and amortization.
